Listen to the silent whispers of the willow
And the wisdom in the secrets she tells
With the young lazy leaves on her slender branches, dancing
In the arms of their stiff dark lovers
Where a blue jay had once nursed four eggs, all told
And four fresh lives were brought to earth
The willow remembered you and your girl
In the deep lover's carvings of her skin
A heart with an arrow, an A and an M
There were days when you two cuddled beneath her shade
Away from the searing glare of the sun
And days when you danced to the sweet melodies
Of your rusty radio, as old as the willow
That's why she swayed to it, and her lazy leaves smiled for a change
But then soon, you were gone. And so was your girl
Like the winds as they left the old willow again
With those painful scars that you've left in her skin:
A heart with an arrow, an A and an M
They remained where they were for fifty years and then
They were buried with dust, grass and spider webs
Tiny creatures lived there: in her skin
In your heart
was the "heart with 'and' arrow" intentional, or is it supposed to be "heart with an arrow"? That sort of threw me off briefly.
Subject matter not my cup of tea, but this is much more interesting and well-written than some of the stuff I read through. Good work! Cannot stress that enough.
So beautiful
